Did you know that not all workers who get injured while working on a boat are covered under the Longshore and Harbor Worker's Act?  If you are working in Florida on a recreational boat, you will not be covered even if you are on navigable waters when the accident occurs.  Instead, you will be covered by Florida's state workers compensation laws that compensate employees for medical care and limited lost wages.  The Longshore Act provides medical coverage and wage loss compensation for any worker on the navigable waters of the United States or when working on a dock loading, unloading, or doing boat repair or boat building.
