Highway construction is dangerous; not just for the workers, but also for drivers. A recent Florida truck accident highlights the personal injury risk posed when commercial vehicles and highway construction mix.
A construction crew was forcing traffic to come to a standstill on S.R. 230. The driver of a Mack truck did not notice that the car in front of him had stopped, causing him to plow into the back of the car. The accident quickly escalated from two cars to four, and even overturned a pickup truck.

Inclement weather can be dangerous. It can be especially treacherous for Florida drivers since we enjoy such nice weather year round. When the weather does get bad, we are less used to handling it.
Take, for instance, a recent auto accident. The accident, which produced a chain-reaction crash involving more than a dozen vehicles, took place during a heavy rainfall. It started when one car struck the back of another. That collision sparked a series of crashes, the most spectacular being a semi-truck overturning when it tried to avoid the earlier car crashes.

An inspiring Florida man has made the most of a personal tragedy. The man was paralyzed by a bullet but has refused to let his personal injury slow him down. Instead, he has used it as an opportunity to inspire others.
At first, the man admits he felt angry. He would look at his non-responsive legs and feel frustrated. But he joined a group of spinal cord injury patients, which focused on getting the patients active and independent again through activities like barbecuing and hand-cycling.

Floridians need to take care both when entering and exiting interstates. When caution is not taken, there can be back outcomes. It is not only important to watch speeds, but it is also crucial that drivers use their mirrors, check their blind spots and are aware of other vehicles in their surroundings.
A family of five recently died when a car exiting Interstate 95 crashed into them. The auto accident happened around midnight when allegedly a speeding Mercedes exited I-95, blew through a red light and then slammed into a Lexus carrying five people. The collision knocked four people from the car. The four victims died at the scene. The fifth victim, the only one wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, died later at the hospital they were transported to. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but they are not life threatening.

Many Floridians take their health for granted, but it can disappear in a moment. A car accident, a rough tackle during a football game or countless other everyday events all can cause paralysis. Floridians living with spinal cord injuries, however, may soon have a new option.
A company recently developed a device that it says may help these Floridians walk again. The device, called scaffolding, is inserted into a person's spinal cord. Spinal tissue that has not scarred yet clings on to the scaffolding, which keeps it healthy while the body works through the injury. The process enables some of the spinal tissue to regenerate.

SUVs feel safe. Their size and high vantage point, however, give a false sense of security. Take, for instance, a recent auto accident, which reportedly killed 4 people, all in the same SUV.
The fatal SUV accident stemmed from a police chase. According to reports, the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban fled police as the result of previous run-ins with local authorities. That chase lasted 6 miles before the Suburban went north on the southbound lane of I-95 with police possibly in tow.

Stanley Steemer trucks normally leave places cleaner than they found them - but it appears that is not always the case. A recent accident involving a Stanley Steemer truck, a Subaru and a third vehicle stopped traffic on Interstate 95 for several hours.
The accident appears to have started when the Subaru lost control and struck the Stanley Steemer vehicle. The pair veered into a third vehicle, sending all three into a guardrail. The collision caused serious personal injury, including at least one fatality. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the crash.

Many outdoors-loving Floridians would agree that sports are fun. They are also dangerous. This is true whether you play professionally, participate in high school athletics, or just engage in a pickup game with some friends. A tragic example of the dangers of sports made headlines recently, through the story of a young man who recently died after a long battle with a neck injury. He suffered the catastrophic injury during a high school football practice.
The young athlete was a running back for his high school football team. During a drill, several other players tackled him. The force of the tackle carried him through the sidelines and into a metal post near the practice field. The impact fractured two vertebrae in his neck, paralyzing him from the neck down. Following the accident, the young man needed both a ventilator to breathe as well as round-the-clock medical care due to his paralysis.

Passing another car can be a dangerous move for drivers, especially on a two-lane road. Take, for instance, a recent auto accident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man driving a Chevy Impala going south on State Road 285 tried to pass a Honda Accord. Before the Impala could pass the Accord, however, it struck a northbound Pontiac Sunbird head-on. The collision caused the Impala to careen into the Accord it was trying to pass, and flipped the Impala onto its roof.
